bonjour there,
Today we went to St. Emilion, a great medieval town near Bordeaux. We started our day with a few tran, bus, and train rides to get to the beautiful town, guesstimating of 1hr. The town was quaint and picturesque, even though it was a freezing day. Not many people, besides us, were exploring the town on a nippy day like this. When we arrived we walked up a long rode, surrounded with grape vineyards. At the top of the hill there was great scenes of cobblestone rodes, stone architecture, and a great over look view. We had 6 hours to explore the town. We waked the town up and down throughout the day, especially when we got lost for an hour, Oops. Every corner you turned there was another wine store, most bottles being regional. Not only could you find bottles of wine for a reasonable, but most were very expensive ranging from 100-400 euros. unfortunately, there were not many shops and restaurants open while we were here. only 7 restaurants were open that day throughout the whole town! Alysa was in her glory because cats roamed free there. When lunch arrived, we luckily went to this great restaurant that was located in the basement in one of the building. It was completely stone and looked like you were going into a tunnel. It was very beautiful and i go to try a classic french cuisine, escargot. It was surprisingly delicious. Aysa, Hannah, Natalie, and myself loved it alot and would definitely get it again. I also had a entree of ham, with salad that included pine nuts. For my main dish I had the best salmon I have ever tasted before. Definitely would recommend this restaurant if you ever traveled there (if i could remember the name of it). Next we had a wine tasting class and unfortunately.... the four of us (Natalie, Hannah, Alysa, and i) didn't make it till the class was over. Natalie had a little accident with an allergen, then we ended up lost for the rest of the time. but it was all okay because we walked so much that I got enough exercise to last me for the whole year. The day shortly ended after that when we took a early train ride home to Bordeaux. It was a great day in St. emilion. It could have only been better if it wasn't so cold!
