first night in Paris

Hopping off the
train after a three hour nap in the warm train to the freezing cold, snowy
Paris train station did not have me jumping for joy to be there. Then what
seemed like hours of lugging our heavy suitcases through the busy metros, we
finally arrived at our stop in Crimee and it only took one pain au chocolat to
get me back in the mood. A group of us braved the cold in our first night in
Paris to visit the Louvre. Walking through the arches seeing the glass pyramids
underneath the falling snowflakes I knew that this was one of those moments I
would always look back on. It felt so surreal that we were finally in Paris,
which the majority of us were looking forward to the most. As we started to
walk around the Louvre we realized that 2 hours was definitely not enough to
see this entire place. After seeing the Mona Lisa and maybe one fourth of the
museum we were soon kicked out at closing time. Kristin and I ventured out into
the blizzard that now swarmed around the brightly lit Paris streets, it was one
of those postcard moments that is impossible to forget. Later we found a small
little brasserie next to the Hotel de Louvre where we saw how fashionable the Parisians
can be. If my long, bushy blonde hair didn’t stand me out from the rest, my
puffy north face and bright Nike sneakers definitely set me apart. We sat on
the screened in area near the street and watched gorgeous people roam through
the gorgeous snow fallen streets. It was a night that will forever be engraved
into my memory and lived up to all the expectations I previously had about this
city. Nonetheless whether it’d be the sites, the fashion, the buildings or the
food we all soon fell very in love with all Paris had to offer.
