Chateau Soutard

Where the wine is aged
The barrels the wine is made in

Our Wine tasting!
While we were in Bordeaux, the class got to experience the most amazing wine tasting at a beautiful vineyard called Chateau Soutard. When we arrived, we only saw a gorgeous mansion with a long driveway. As we approached, we met a very nice tour guide who took us around the entire vineyard, which was the most interesting adventure for me in Bordeaux. We first went into the wine cellars with large silver barrels that they actually used to make the wine. As I looked inside, I saw that the red wine stained some of the wood barrels because of the rich, beautiful color. Then, we walked through another door into a room with smaller wooden barrels where they kept the wine after being made to let the wine age and taste its best. The one thing I did notice the whole time was that the entire place was very dark which created a comfortable and lovely ambiance for the rooms. Next, we went into this large glass elevator which looked like a time machine or as if it was from some James Bond movie. It was interesting to see that they mixed modern and antique styles together such as the very old barrels and the time machine elevator to create a gorgeous interior of a huge mansion. When we finally got to the actual wine tasting we were taken into a room with a huge lit up glass table with wine glasses strategically placed throughout for each one of us. In the wine tasting room we tasted three different wines using the techniques we learned the day before at the wine tasting class. Personally, my favorite wine was the second because it tasted very silky and smooth and not dry at all. Red wine is not my favorite wine, but I decided to buy it to share with my family because it was so delicious. Most people actually liked the first wine the best because it was more dry but also delicious. After that lovely wine tasting we all wanted to go to another one because we had such an awesome time at Chateau Soutard!
